NICEVILLE — Paxton alumnus Grant Stewart tossed another gem and Jake Randa, Miguel Cienfuegos and Leo Horacio combined to go 10-for-13 to lead the NWF State baseball team (8-2) to a 7-1 win over Lurleen B. Wallace Tuesday night.
Stewart struck out three over five innings of four-hit, one-run ball for the win. Conor Angel, Cason Greathouse, Ethan Routzahn and Cienfuegos combined to allow just one hit and struck out five over four scoreless innings of relief.
Randa led the hit parade (15 base knocks) with a 4-for-4 effort with two RBI, a run and a walk. Cienfuegos went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI, and Horacio went 3-for-5 with two runs and two triples. Thomas Broyles also went 2-for-3 and Kaden Polcovich and Connor Stephens each drove in a run.
NWF State next hosts Motlow State for a three-game set starting Friday at 5 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Saturday set for 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
