Nothing came easy for Northwest Florida State College Raiders Varsity on Wednesday, as they fell 8-2 to Gulf Coast
In the first inning, Northwest Florida State College Raiders Varsity got their offense started. Cole Halfacre drove in one when he doubled.
Gulf Coast pulled away for good with three runs in the third inning. In the third Jeff Omohundro hit a solo homer and Alec Aleywine doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs.
Gulf Coast scored three runs in the eighth inning. Gulf Coast big bats were led by Jacquez Koonce and Ben Rowdon, who all drove in runs.
Brett Wisely led things off on the rubber for Gulf Coast. He went nine innings, allowing two runs on seven hits, striking out four and walking zero.
Grant Stewart toed the rubber for Northwest Florida State College Raiders Varsity. He went six innings, allowing five runs on ten hits and striking out three. Jackson Sloan and Conor Angel entered the game as relief, throwing one inning and one inning respectively.
Northwest Florida State College Raiders Varsity had seven hits in the game. Halfacre and Leo Horacio each had multiple hits for Northwest Florida State College Raiders Varsity. Horacio and Halfacre each collected two hits to lead Northwest Florida State College Raiders Varsity.
Gulf Coast tallied 12 hits on the day. Koonce, Rowdon, and Cory Heffron all collected multiple hits for Gulf Coast. Koonce went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Gulf Coast in hits.
