NICEVILLE, Fla. – Northwest Florida men's and women's basketball hosts Gulf Coast Saturday to open Panhandle Conference play. The women kick things off at 5:30 p.m., while the men are scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
The games will be streamed online at EmeraldCoastTV.com or fans can watch on their Roku or Amazon Fire devices by downloading the Emerald Coast TV app.
The men's team (12-4) has won five of its last six games, including an 84-57 victory over Coastal Alabama – North its last time out. The Raiders lead the conference averaging 5.6 blocks per game and are holding opponent to a league-low 25.6 percent shooting from 3-point range.
Gulf Coast (12-3) has strung together consecutive wins after dropping back-to-back games to Miami Dade and Indian River in the JUCO Shootout. The Commodores are second in the Panhandle averaging 94.5 points and 11.8 steals per game.
On the women's side, No. 4 Northwest Florida (15-1) faces a tough opponent in top-ranked Gulf Coast. The Commodores have won three of the last four NJCAA national championships and enter conference play 13-0.
NWF sports the nation's best defense allowing just 44.9 points per game, while Gulf Coast comes to town with the top offense in the Panhandle Conference averaging 82.5 points per contest.
