Matt Shewmake enters his second season with the Raiders. In his first season at NWF, the Raiders went 24-7 with an Elite Eight finish in the NJCAA Division 1 National Tournament.
Before making his way to Niceville, Shewmake spent a season with Cal State Fullerton's women's basketball program. During his time on the West Coast, he coordinated video editing and scouting efforts for the Titans, in addition to having a big role in recruiting. Additionally, Shewmake assisted with on court skill work, helped with marketing, handled technology needs and helped coordinate social media efforts for the team.
Shewmake also served as the video coordinator at Middle Tennessee State for the 2015-16 season as the Blue Raiders won the C-USA Championship and made an appearance in the 2016 NCAA Tournament.
Prior to working at MTSU, Shewmake was the video coordinator for the VCU women's basketball team during the 2014-15 season.
Before joining the Rams, he recruited for one of the most successful travel basketball programs, the Tennessee Flight Nike in the E.Y.B.L, where he won two Nike National Championships (2012 15U, 2012 16U). Shewmake has also spent some time as a high school, AAU and travel ball coach over the last six years.
Shewmake has coached four 17U/16U USA National Team Members and Gold Medalists and eight McDonald's/WBCA All-Americans, along with 12 McDonald's All-American nominees.
The Birmingham, Ala., native spent time as a student assistant coach under Mike Davis at UAB and at Louisiana Tech for the women's program.
Shewmake is a 2014 graduate of the University of Alabama, obtaining a bachelor's degree in general studies of human environmental sciences.
