Jaquae Stewart Named NJCAA Player of the Week
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Northwest Florida State baseball's Jaquae Stewart has earned title of NJCAA Player of the Week after a stellar performance at the plate during the FCSAA/NJCAA Region VIII Tournament.
Stewart's remarkable week included leading the team in runs batted in (RBI) with a total of 11. His impressive stats consisted of six hits, one double, and one home run. Particularly noteworthy was his standout performance in the Region VIII Championship game against Chipola, where Stewart went 3-for-4, smashing one double, one home run, and accumulating six RBIs. This remarkable contribution played a pivotal role in the Raiders' 11-6 victory over conference rival Chipola, securing their first NJCAA South Atlantic District Championship since 2015. This performance also led to Stewart earning First-Team All-Tournament and Most Outstanding Player recognition.
Stewart's achievement marks the second time a Raider has received a NJCAA weekly award this season, following Sam Strek's Pitcher of the Week recognition on April 10th, earned after an exceptional outing against Tallahassee.
As Stewart and the Raiders prepare for the NJCAA Baseball World Series in Grand Junction, Colo., scheduled for May 25, they await the NJCAA's announcement regarding their tournament seed, expected sometime next week.
