Raiders Drop Game Two to Chipola in Offensive Clash
NICEVILLE, Fla. — Angel Santiago turned in a strong performance at the plate with four hits, but Northwest Florida State fell to Chipola 12-8 on Saturday at Northwest Florida State College.
Santiago finished 4-for-6, recording doubles in the second and seventh innings along with singles in the first and ninth. Despite the loss, the Raiders outhit Chipola 15-12, with Santiago and Orlando Fernandez each collecting four hits.
Northwest Florida struck first in the opening inning. Fernandez delivered an RBI single down the right-field line, and Anthony Quigley added a sacrifice fly to give the Raiders a 2-0 lead.
The Raiders extended their advantage in the second inning when Santiago doubled to left field to drive in a run, and Fernandez followed with another RBI single to push the lead to 4-0.
Chipola responded in the fourth inning, using a pair of home runs to surge ahead 6-4.
Northwest Florida battled back later in the game, tying the contest at 8-8 in the eighth inning when Quigley singled to center field to bring in the equalizing run.
However, Chipola regained the lead in the ninth with a combination of a walk, an RBI double, and a sacrifice fly to secure the 12-8 victory.
Tucker Delisle started on the mound for the Raiders, allowing two runs on three hits over three innings while striking out two and walking four.
Northwest Florida totaled 15 hits in the game. Quigley, Santiago, and King each drove in two runs, while Sam Bradley added two hits in six at-bats. The Raiders also showed patience at the plate, drawing eight walks, with Hunter Tarchalski, Brock Clayton, and Joe Cable each earning two free passes.
