NWF Men Dominate Season Opener

NICEVILLE, Fla. – No. 7 Northwest Florida State men's basketball dominated Coastal Alabama – North from start to finish in a 92-53 win in Raider Arena on Friday to open the 2021-22 season.

The Raiders (1-0) led for all but one minute of the game and shot 59.4 percent (38-64) from the field as head coach Greg Heiar claimed the victory in his debut.

Kam Woods paced NWF with 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting as one of six Raiders to score in double figures. Tre Clark finished with 13 points and Adam Scherbakov had 12 on four 3-pointers. Shammah Scott added 12 points to go along with six rebounds and four assists.

Northwest Florida commanded the paint outscoring Coastal Alabama 52-10 from close range. NWF forced 14 turnovers leading to 22 points and outrebounded the Eagles 45-26.

The Raiders return to action on Saturday at 4 p.m. against USC Salk.
