Bio
Assistant coach Rory Kuhn returns to the Raiders for a fourth year after helping guide the Raiders to the Elite 8 the previous season. Kuhn helped recruit and develop Panhandle player of the year, all-state player, and third team All- American Shadell Millinghaus (Texas Tech). Kuhn also worked with and recruited former top 50 player and All Conference player Moustapha Diagne (WKU), as well as returning Raiders Jared Wilson- Frame and Daryl Edwards both All-Conference players as well.
During the 2014-2015 season Kuhn helped guide the Raiders toward winning the National Championship. Kuhn’s guard development was crucial to the Raiders success. Kuhn helped recruit, coach, and develop a trio of guards that received both regional and National recognition. Most impressive under Coach Kuhn’s tutelage was Benji Bell the Panhandle player of the year, Florida State player of the year, and Division 1 NJCAA All-American. Working with Coach Kuhn Bell saw his 3 point percentage go from 34% as a freshman to 44% as a sophomore.
In addition to Bell Coach Kuhn also worked with and developed Jalen Jackson who signed with Arkansas Little Rock and led the raiders in scoring during the regular season averaging 18.3 ppg while shooting 56% from the field. Jackson was a first team All- Panhandle player and a first team All-State player in the state of Florida. Kuhn also worked with freshman guard Brandon Austin. Austin was named freshman of the year in the Panhandle Conference while averaging 15.8 ppg. Austin was also named MVP of the National tournament. Kuhn also developed and coached Xavier Moon (Morehead State) and Keith Charleston (South East Louisiana).
In the 2013-2014 season, Kuhn helped guide the Raiders to an overall record of 22-6 including a number 1 ranking nationally. Kuhn was instrumental in the player development and graduation of eight sophomore’s from last year’s Raider team that went on to play division one basketball at: Oregon, Kansas State, Cincinnati, Wichita State, Middle Tennessee State, Stephen F. Austin, Cleveland State, and Longwood. Kuhn worked closely with three first team All-Panhandle players that included Darnell Harris (Belgium Pro) Stephen Hurt (Finland Pro), and especially Farad Cobb (Kosovo Pro) who finished second in the Panhandle player of the year voting while averaging 15.1 points per game while shooting 46.3 percent from three point range.
