NWF Women’s Basketball Signs Ana Carolina Jesus

NICEVILLE, Fla. – Northwest Florida head coach Bart Walker announced on Tuesday the signing of Portuguese post player Ana Carolina Jesus. 

The 6-3 center played her senior campaign at Elevation Prep Academy in Sarasota, Fla., where she averaged 11.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game. Jesus shot 48.0 from the field and tallied five double-doubles. She committed to Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va., before opting for NWF.

"We're excited about the potential that Ana brings to our team," Walker said. "She is a hard worker, who can run, shoot, and defend at a high level. She can score in several different ways and brings length to our roster."

The Setubal, Portugal, native accrued international experience playing for the Portugal U16, U18, and U20 National Teams posting 10.4 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. As a member of the U16 squad she earned a silver medal at the 2015 European Championship.

Jesus also played for GDESSA Barreiro in the Portuguese Premier League averaging 12.7 points and 7.7 rebounds with the team.

Jesus becomes the ninth signee of the 2020 class joining freshmen Shelbee Brown, Noelani Cornfield, Nashani Gilbert-Taylor, Inès Piper, Last-Tear Poa, and Claire Simmons, as well as sophomore transfers Imani Jones and Kira Mosley.
