Pinto Named Region 8 Player of the Week

NICEVILLE, Fla. – Northwest Florida State College sophomore Chanaya Pinto was named FSCAA/Region VIII Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. 

Pinto, who was an NJCAA All-American last season, helped lead the No. 2 Raiders to a pair of victories during the first week of play. The Mozambique native averaged 18 points and 11 rebounds in 23 minutes per game. Pinto also posted five assists and four steals during the week.

This is the second time Pinto has been named Region VIII Player of the Week, following her selection on Feb. 11 last season.

Northwest Florida defeated East Georgia State, 70-59, and Santa Fe, 85-31, to open the season. The Raiders look to defend their 11-game winning streak tonight in against DME Academy in Raider Arena.
