NICEVILLE, Fla. – Top-ranked Northwest Florida State women's basketball got all they could handle in a 59-44 victory over Pensacola in Raider Arena on Wednesday.
The Raiders (8-0, 4-0 PC) outscored the Pirates 20-4 over the final 10 minutes to pull out the team's 17th consecutive win. NWF trailed the 40-39 heading into the fourth quarter but held its opponent to just one field goal in the final frame.
Chanaya Pinto recorded her 14th career double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds to go along with five assists. Masengo Mutanda scored 17 points to lead all scorers.
Northwest Florida State started the game ice cold shooting under 25 percent from the field in the first half. Shelbee Brown got the offense going with nine points in the second half on 4-of-7 shooting.
The Raiders scored 24 points off 26 turnovers to help their cause.
Northwest Florida returns to action at Gulf Coast on Feb. 23. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
