Pitching Dominates as Raiders Earn Two Shutout Wins in Panama City

PANAMA CITY, Fla. — Northwest Florida State softball continued its scorching start to the season Friday, picking up a pair of shutout victories over Patrick & Henry and St. Johns River State behind dominant pitching performances.

Game One: Northwest Florida 11, Patrick & Henry 0 (5 innings)

The Raiders' pitching staff was untouchable in the opener as Savannah Carter and Mallory Baker combined to throw a five-inning no-hitter. Carter was electric in her start, striking out nine batters over three innings, while Baker closed out the game with two hitless frames and two strikeouts.

Northwest Florida's offense provided plenty of support early and often, building a commanding lead behind a balanced attack. Jaci Gary led the way, finishing with two hits and four RBIs, while Karson McGowan, Falyn Beebe, AJ Vineski, Izzy Warrick and others contributed run-scoring hits.

The Raiders jumped on Patrick & Henry from the opening inning and never let up, plating runs in every frame to enforce the run rule and secure their first shutout of the day.

Game Two: Northwest Florida 7, St. Johns River State 0

Defending FCSAA Pitcher of the Week Marlee Parsons followed up Friday's opener with another statement performance in the nightcap. Parsons went the distance, tossing a complete-game shutout while allowing just four hits, walking one and striking out eight.

Offensively, Northwest Florida struck quickly again. Jaci Gary continued her big day at the plate, launching a two-run home run to highlight the scoring, while Karson McGowan, Falyn Beebe and Hailey Hughes also drove in runs.

The Raiders broke the game open in the second and third innings, capitalizing on extra-base hits and aggressive baserunning to build a comfortable cushion for Parsons, who remained in control throughout.
