Raiders Wrap Up Non-Conference Play with 10–0 Win Over Parkland

NICEVILLE, Fla. — Northwest Florida State closed out its non-conference schedule in dominant fashion Monday, defeating Parkland 10–0 behind a six-run fourth inning.

The Raiders broke the game open in the fourth, stringing together several key plays. Bre Hughes delivered the biggest hit of the inning with a two-run triple, while an error added another run. Karson McGowan drove in a run on a groundout, Jaci Gary followed with an RBI double, and Julie Stevens capped the inning with an RBI single.

Northwest Florida first got on the board in the second inning, taking advantage of Parkland miscues. A line drive from Ashley Griggs resulted in an error by the Parkland shortstop, allowing Jaci Gary to score the game's first run. Another error on a ground ball from Isabelle Warrick brought home Julie Stevens to make it 2–0.

The Raiders continued to apply pressure in the inning. Bre Hughes laid down a sacrifice bunt that allowed Anna Grace Griggs to score, and later Haley Hughes drove in Warrick on a groundout to extend the lead to 4–0.

Northwest Florida's offense erupted again in the fourth. Bre Hughes tripled to left field, bringing in two runs, before another Parkland error allowed her to score. McGowan later drove in a run with a groundout, Gary lined an RBI double to center field, and Stevens followed with an RBI single to push the lead to 10–0.

Marlee Parsons earned the win for the Raiders, tossing four shutout innings while allowing just one hit and striking out four. Savannah Carter closed the game with a scoreless inning in relief, striking out three.

Gary and Stevens each recorded two hits while hitting back-to-back in the lineup, helping lead Northwest Florida's offensive effort. Bre Hughes finished 1-for-2 with a team-high three RBIs. Haley Hughes and Stevens each swiped multiple bases as the Raiders totaled eight stolen bases in the game. Northwest Florida was also flawless defensively, committing no errors.

With the win, the Raiders wrap up non-conference play at 31–2 overall and remain ranked No. 3 in the nation heading into Panhandle Conference play next week. Northwest Florida will begin its conference title defense Wednesday with a doubleheader at Gulf Coast as the Raiders look to capture their fourth straight Panhandle Conference championship.
